From February 21 to 25, 2016, the Gulfood 2016 fair took place in DUBAI (United Arab Emirates). HARIMSA participated in it with a stand, within the Spanish Pavilion, a stand provided by ICEX. ICEX made modular stands available to exhibitors, all of the same size and with basic services such as table and chairs for meetings, counter and cabinets/drawers for products, power lines and lighting, a small warehouse and the option to display a communication support for the company business.
ICEX provided basic advisory services, information about the fair, logistical support and others. HARIMSA hired the services of an interpreter and the Cartagena Chamber of Commerce provided a basic contact list. Within this framework, the five days of the fair were developed and during them, visits were received from the different companies that visited the venue and more specifically the Spanish pavilion. More than twenty-five contacts were made with different companies, which took catalogs of HARIMSA products as well as product prices and transport quotes. Most of these visits were from firms from Arab countries (Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia) although they were also received from India, China, Taiwan and Southeast Asia such as Indonesia. The star product that HARIMSA presented was the mix of churros, both for retail and Horeca. Also the range of mixes for pizza, pancakes, crepes and sponge cake. A large number of visitors came from the restaurant sector and fewer from supermarket chains, although two very important contacts were made with Carrefour and the Arab supermarket chain Lulu. Outside fair hours, several supermarkets from different chains were visited, as well as shopping centers, in order to check what type of products from the range of flours are displayed on the shelves, as well as the brands and origins of the manufacturers. Throughout the development of the mission, we were perfectly attended by personnel from the Cartagena Chamber of Commerce, who at all times attended to our doubts and requirements, providing advice or clues about the local market. This trade mission has been organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Cartagena, and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) together with the Development Institute of the Region of Murcia.
